When most students enter college, they believe that success is defined solely by good marks and a high CGPA. While academic performance is certainly important, college life offers much more than classroom learning and examinations.
College is a space where students develop essential life skills such as communication, teamwork, leadership, confidence, and time management. Participating in clubs, technical fests, sports, hackathons, and cultural activities enables students to grow in ways that textbooks alone cannot provide.
I still remember participating in SIH 2025 during my first year, despite having very little knowledge about hackathons at the time. Initially, the experience felt overwhelming and challenging. However, it turned out to be one of my most valuable learning experiences. It taught me how to work effectively in a team, think creatively, and remain calm under pressure. Encouraged by this experience, I began participating in as many hackathons as possible, each one contributing to my personal and technical growth.
One of the most important lessons college teaches us is the value of connections. Interacting with peers, learning from seniors, collaborating with teammates, and building friendships broaden our perspectives and open doors to future opportunities. These relationships often play a crucial role in shaping our careers and personal lives.
While good marks may help students access opportunities, it is skills, experience, and strong networks that help them make the most of those opportunities.
In conclusion, college is not just about exams and grades. It is about learning beyond the syllabus, creating memories, building meaningful relationships, and growing into a better version of oneself. Students should make the most of their college years by exploring new experiences and understanding that true success cannot be measured by marks alone.
