Making mistakes does not make me worthless.
In fact, imperfection is what helps me understand who I am and how I need to grow. Instead of running away from my past, I choose to accept it. I take responsibility for my actions and move forward with humility, clarity, and self-respect.
This mindset didn’t come overnight—it came through experience.
During my time in college, I noticed that when a batchmate got upset with me, there was usually a reason behind it. Sometimes, it was because something I said or did unintentionally hurt their ego. I have personally faced such situations with my classmates.
Earlier, I might have reacted immediately or felt defensive. But now, I try to pause and understand their perspective first.
Instead of letting misunderstandings grow, I make an effort to communicate. Even a simple message on WhatsApp—
“I’m sorry. I’ll make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
—can make a difference.
I have started seeing it as my responsibility to acknowledge my mistakes and ensure I don’t repeat them.
Not every mistake is intentional. But even then, reacting instantly often makes things worse. I am learning to pause, reflect, and respond calmly rather than emotionally.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is this:
When I truly listen, I begin to understand the emotions behind words. This helps me avoid unnecessary conflicts and build better connections with others.
Another realization I had about myself was my lack of awareness. I wasn’t always paying attention to what was happening around me. I didn’t fully understand how my actions were affecting others. Because of this, misunderstandings were bound to happen.
But now, I see these moments not as failures—but as experiences.
Each situation teaches me something new about myself and about people. With every lesson, I become a little more aware, a little more patient, and a little more understanding.
And with this understanding,
I begin my journey of self-improvement.
